NEW EMPLOYEE TRAINING

The COSE Health and Safety Office offers safety orientations for new faculty and staff. The goal is to ensure that the university is fulfilling local, state and federal training requirements in radiation, chemical, biological, hazardous waste, and occupational safety.

Your training requirements will depend on your specific job duties, however ALL new faculty, staff, and student employees must have a basic safety orientation. In general, tenure-track faculty and staff must meet with COSE Health and Safety staff as soon as possible after their hire date. Temporary-assignment employees, such as lecturers and student employees may opt for a self-study handbook and turn in a signed acknowledgement of training and quiz.

Since initial training requirements differ based on job duties, check out the Safety Training Matrix to help you figure out what type of safety orientation applies to you.
