Program Emphasis and Options

Undergraduate Degree; B.A. In Recreation
Within the realm of a broad based liberal arts education, and through the advising process, students are able to combine a strong generic core with opportunities to take coursework in the following emphasis areas: Therapeutic Recreation; Parks and Resources Management, Community and Urban Recreation, Environmental Education and Outdoor Recreation; Commercial Recreation, Resort and Tourism Management; Leisure Education; and Adventure Programming.  There are also a number of specialized certification programs and community-based outreach programs offered through the RLS Department. For information on HOW TO APPLY TO SFSU as an undergraduate click here

Graduate Degree; M.S. in Recreation Administration
The flexible program is designed to qualify students for professional positions of greater responsibility in leisure management in both public and private sectors. Students can specialize in a number of areas, ranging from community recreation, tourism to therapeutic recreation.  Students wishing to become certified as recreation therapists at either the state of national level will become eligible upon completion of the M.S. in Recreation and specified course work, including internship. Prerequisites for Admission

California Resident
