Orientations and Research Opportunities:  Grad Student Email-News. 1/23/02

Dear RLS Grad Students,

I hope you all received the recent spring newsletter that was emailed and mailed to you.  If not, contact me.  I have only hear from 1 person that they will be attending the New Grad Orientation on Wednesday Feb 6 from 7-8:30 p.m., Gym 117A .  This is Mandatory for all new grad students and anyone else who has not had the orientation. RSVP me at (415) 338-1818  or ptierney@sfsu.edu ASAP. 

Have not hear from anyone planning to take the Comprehensive Exam this spring.   If you take the comps, you must attend the  RLS Comprehensive Exam Orientation Wed. Feb 6 from 5:30-6:30 p.m., Gym 117A – Mandatory for those taking Spring 2002 exam. 

Advising Day at SFSU is Friday Jan 25 so all faculty will be in their offices.

I am looking for grad students to assist me in the following three research projects.  These are outstanding opportunities for assisting in research and possibly using the data for your thesis. Contact me for details.

1.  National Survey of Interest and Barriers to Guided Adventure Trips
2.  Comparison of Rural Forest Proximate Residents to Urban Residents of Central and Northern California in their Preferences for Outdoor Recreation Facilities and Services.
3.  International comparison of interest and barriers to visiting natural areas
