We have made arrangements for conference participants with two hotels in downtown San Francisco: The Beresford (635 Sutter Street) and The Beresford Arms (701 Post Street). See the Beresford website at: http://www.beresford.com/ . But please do not register on-line through the website of the hotel, instead speak to Priscilla at 415-673-9900. Tell her that you are with the Philosophy conference from SF State. You can reach her 8 AM to 6PM Monday through Friday. The deadline for room reservations is 10/5/2008. The Beresford Hotels are a green solution to getting to SFSU, since each of these hotels is within easy walking distance to Market Street. Public transportation to San Francisco State by MUNI (the M car) is readily available from there. Participants should reserve rooms as soon as possible, since hotel space in San Francisco is always in demand, and we need to know whether extra rooms are necessary. Both hotels are wired for the internet. Both hotels have internet access via terminals in the lobby. Wireless in each room is only available at the Beresford Arms. There is no problem about sharing rooms. And it may be possible to book rooms at discounted rates beyond the length of the conference, speak to Priscilla if you are intereseted in this possibility.
Rates: We have been offered preferred rates at both hotels, so please mention that you are connected to the San Francisco State Philosophy conference in making reservations. The Beresford Arms is slightly more expensive but offers more in the way of amenities. Please note that there is a 14% hotel tax in San Francisco so that tax must be added on to the rates quoted below. For reservations at either hotel, call (800)-533-6533.

The Beresford Arms: $139 Queen Deluxe (2 queen beds-up to four people); $159 Junior Suite (includes either a wet bar or a kitchenette); $119 Queen
- Please make reservations ASAP. The absolute deadline for booking a room at these rates is October 6, 2008, but the sooner the better. We need to know whether additional rooms are necessary, and we can’t do that until all reservations have been made. The rooms and prices cited above are in limited supply.
