Named after San Francisco State's founding president, Frederic Lister Burk, this building is the home of our renowned College of Education. SFSU began life in 1899 as a teacher-training college, and under Burk's leadership, it became one of the most prestigious in the nation.

Burk Hall also houses Liberal Studies, the Teacher Preparation Center and the Credential Program Admissions Office, all on the second floor, as well as the School of Nursing and the departments of Counseling, Consumer Family Studies/Dietetics and Special Education.

On the top floor, you can enjoy fine dining with a view. The Vista Room is run by students in the hotel/restaurant management program and reservations are a must.
