Graphic Standards Manual

From the President

Fall 1998

I am pleased to introduce SFSU's visual identity program and logo, the culmination of a three-year effort involving extensive exploration as well as consultation with faculty, staff, students, administrators, alumni, and friends. Consistent use of SFSU's logo will help the University speak to its various constituencies in a distinct voice that builds awareness and recognition for us.

A uniformly applied visual identity program for a university is essential. A logo used consistently helps establish immediate recognition for a university, expresses its personality, and sets it apart from its competition. It becomes a visual interpreter of a university's character and quality. It builds credibility for a university and reflects its spirit and values.

This Web site provides guidelines to and answers basic questions about the University's graphic standards. If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Public Affairs & Publications, which is responsible for implementing the identity program.

I ask everyone on campus to support this effort and to work within these guidelines to make our visual identity program a success.
