Student Services Professional – AR-II, Academic Year (Tenure-Track)

Student Health/Counseling and Psychological Services Center a department within the Division of Student Affairs at SF State, is charged with enhancing the psychological well-being of the campus community. The professional services of the multi-disciplinary counselor faculty are available to the campus community, and include individual, couples and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, critical incident debriefing, assessment and crisis counseling for faculty and staff, substance abuse prevention and education and other consultation and outreach to the campus community.
Position Description:
Counselor faculty provides the full range of individual and group psychological services to students. Faculty and staff are seen for crisis counseling, assessment and referral. These clients represent a wide range of multicultural backgrounds and present complex psychosocial, personal and family issues. Primary responsibilities of counselors include intake & assessment, individual, group, marital and couples counseling (using time-limited treatment models); outreach; referrals;crisis intervention and consultation. Counselor faculty effectively represent the Counseling and Psychological Services Center as a member of the university faculty, and perform additional professional services as individual skills, interests and agency needs indicate. Evening hours may be required.
Required Qualifications:
Applicant must currently possess an appropriate degree in counseling, psychology or a specific related field, and a clinical license as a Psychologist. Additionally, applicants must have experience and clinical effectiveness in multi-cultural counseling approaches with ethnically and culturally diverse clients and communities; clinical skills and experience in time-limited, short term treatment modalities, with a broad range of complex personal and interpersonal issues; ability to establish effective working collaborations between individuals and groups representing different cultures, interest groups and/or departments; ability to provide effective consultation regarding a variety of psychological issues; strong clinical assessment skills; crisis/suicide intervention experience and critical incident debriefing capabilities; and extensive experience making discerning judgments regarding complex legal and ethical issues. Applicants must also be willing to participate in providing clinical supervision to student interns placed at our Counseling Clinic training program. Candidate must be able and willing to participate in the life of the campus as a member of the faculty.
Preferred Qualifications:
Post graduate clinical experience on a college campus; experience in working with multi-cultural populations, urban setting; knowledge and experience of psychological testing, Spanish-speaking (bilingual/bicultural).
Salary: Negotiable and commensurate with experience.

$ 55,944.00 – 100,644.00 Annually

- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends if need arises

Counselor faculty will participate in the life of the campus as a member of the faculty, and meet criteria for retention in a tenure track position (by such means as participation in professional associations, publications, research, creative works and continuing education, and university and community service.)
