The Master of Science program in School Psychology leads to the Pupil Personnel Services Credential with authorization in School Psychology. Designed primarily for full time students, an M.S. degree is obtained after successful completion of the fourth semester and a Pupil Personnel Services Credential with an authorization in School Psychology is obtained after successful completion of the sixth semester in the program. In addition to theory and methods courses, the program includes fieldwork, practica and internship experiences.
Prerequisites: Acceptance
into the program is based on evidence of psychological experience
with children and families in institutions such as schools and
service oriented settings. Academic
preparation is demonstrated by the capacity to make use of graduated
level academic work and professional training.
These qualities may be assessed by record of previous academic
accomplishments in Psychology or other related fields that emphasize
an understanding of children and their families, and by record of
clinical work experience. Students
entering the program should have completed courses in introductory
statistics and research, clinical psychology, developmental
psychology, abnormal psychology, learning psychology, personality
psychology and cross-cultural psychology.
It is required
that applicants submit Graduate Record Examination scores, general
test portion only. GRE scores can be up
to five years old (maximum).
