VHS VIDEO CASSETTES from the American Poetry Archives collection make up the vast majority of recordings listed in this catalog. Beginning in 1973, The Poetry Center began videotaping all its programs, and taking action to conserve and disseminate its earlier audio recordings compiled over the previous two decades. The earliest of these videos were recorded on reel-to-reel machines and the master-tapes are extremely fragile, often literally unplayable. We've recently had most of these early video masters professionally restored. Included in this catalog are nearly all the video-recordings made by The Poetry Center over the past 30 years.

VHS VIDEO CASSETTES from The NET Outtake Series, representing nearly 20 programs made up of out-take film footage drawn from the National Educational Television program USA: Poetry produced by Richard O. Moore of KQED-TV during 1965-66. These are extraordinary black-and-white documents, focusing on single poets typically in their home environment reading and discussing their art. Anne Sexton, Frank O'Hara, John Wieners, Charles Olson, Robert Duncan, John Ashbery, William Everson, Allen Ginsberg, Robert Creeley, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Gary Snyder, Kenneth Koch, Ed Sanders, Michael McClure, Philip Whalen, Richard Wilbur, Denise Levertov, and Louis Zukofsky all have programs in The NET Outtake Series. These recordings are available only through The Poetry Center.
