Vehicles not displaying a valid SFSU parking
permit at all times will be cited
What Happens if I get a Parking Ticket?
In accordance with section 21113 of the California Vehicle
Code and 42200, Title 5 of California Administrative Code,
vehicles found to be parked in violation of campus parking
regulations and/or the California Vehicle Code will be issued
a Notice of Parking Violation by the San Francisco State University
Department of Public Safety. Payment Information Payments
can be made by mail, in person at the SFSU Department of Public
Safety, or the Cashierþs Office in Administration Building
Room 155. Make checks/money orders payable to: SFSU Citation
Processing. Do not send cash.
Credit Card Information
San Francisco State University does not accept credit card
payments for parking citations.
Appeal Process Step One: Request for Citation
Cancellation: If you wish to contest a citation you must
do so within 21 days from the date of issuance.
Forms can be obtained by several methods.
- By filling out our online
protest form.
- By coming down to the Department of Public Safety, Citation
Processing Division (On North State Dr.)
- Through mail by calling (415) 338-7827 (9:00 AM - 4:00
PM Mon-Fri).
- By printing out the request
form (note: clicking on the request
form link will bring up the cancellation form in a new blank
window so that you can print it out, close the window when
done with the form to see this page again).
Step Two: Administrative Review: If
you would like to further contest the citation you must do
so within 21 days of the mailing of the results of step one.
Forms can be obtained at the Department of Public Safety.
Step Three: Civil Hearing: If you disagree
with the Hearing Examinerþs decision, you may schedule a court
hearing at the San Francisco Municipal Court, 850 Bryant Street
Room 101. There is a fee of $25.00 which is refundable if
the appeal is found not liable by the civil judgment.
Vehicles not displaying a valid SFSU parking
permit will be cited. Failure to respond to 5 or more unpaid
citations may result in the immobilization (booting) or towing
of your vehicle at owners expense. For more information on

Note: Violators may have ONLY 3 citation dismissals and/or
warnings per semester of the same violation code.If you are
unable to pay the full amount of your citation(s) in one payment
you can request a
Payment Plan Form (note: clicking
on the request form link will bring up the payment form in
a new blank window so that you can print it out, close the
window when done with the form to see this page again)
Once you have filled out the form sign it and either bring
it in to the University Police Department (located on North
State Drive next to the Diag Center) or send it in to:
