Shao Fang and her late husband, Sheng Pao, were invited to apprentice with Frank Lloyd Wright in the late 1940's. Later, they built a house entirely by themselves. As a woman, as a Chinese, and as an artist, Shao Fang, now in her eighties, has led a highly unusual life. This film is a personal documentary of this indomitable soul and her spiritual house.

This study examined Early Childhood Mathematics Education and young children's mathematics knowledge across three cultures: Peru, Taiwan, and the U.S. Results show that the international mathematics achievement gap seemst os tart as early as preschool and suggests that variations in preschool mathematics education may be one contributing factor.

In 2007, the Elizabeth Sackler Center for Feminist Art at Brooklyn museum held a feminist art exhibition entitled "Global Feminisms", which was organized conceptually and thematically rather than historically or geographically. The exhibition has already generated debate about the importance of art and visual culture to feminism, as well as about the politics and practice of feminist curatorial work in the context of globalization. The students will be reading the curatorial statement from the exhibition and during the class we will examine and discuss the work of some of the artists exhibited in the show.

Professor McKeon and Mrs. Michiko Nakagawa are Cha-no-yu practitioners certified and licensed by Omotesenke of Kyoto, Japan. They each have tea names, an honor bestowed only on certified tea practitioners by Grand Tea Master Sen Sosa. Professor McKeon is Sôzui and Mrs. Nakagawa is Sôyô.

This study had a sample of 263 primary caregivers of the elderly in Allahabad City in northern India. The findings are analyzed using a feminist perspective and underscores that female caregivers' perceived burden depends on the interrelationship between the size of the role overload and adherence to Asian cultural norms.
Dr. Gupta's practice and research work has been on South Asian immigrants and Asian Indian caregivers of the elderly in India.

Nine BECA students traveled to Guatemala in June of 2008 to produce a service video for Trama Textiles, a women's weaving cooperative based in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. The video promotes the sale of the cooperative's weaving to fair trade organizations in Europe and the United States. These sales support the weavers and their children, who live in 17 locations in the Western Highlands of Guatemala.
