Office of International Programs (OIP)

Welcome to the official Web site for the 14th annual International Education Week (IEW) at San Francisco State University!

International Education Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of State. Inaugurated by President Bill Clinton in 2000, IEW celebrates the importance and benefits of international education in the U.S. and around the world. Today, IEW is celebrated in more than 100 countries worldwide.

Since its inception in 2000, International Education Week has helped to showcase international education and foster inter-cultural understanding at San Francisco State University and beyond.

IEW¡¯s focus has always been to promote awareness and understanding of our world¡¯s diverse cultures both abroad, as well as within our own community. We hope this year¡¯s exciting events provide you with a wealth of fun and interesting opportunities to experience the many cultures that are part of the San Francisco State University community through food, music, dance, lectures and more.

Join us November 12-15, 2013 and discover the exciting diversity our world has to offer!

We encourage members of the San Francisco State University community to plan events and activities to highlight how international education does the following:

Advances learning and scholarship
Builds understanding and respect among different peoples
Enhances constructive leadership in the global community

Please visit our ¡°Participate¡± page if you would like more information about planning an event and participating in IEW 2013!
