Advising Hours

Monday: 10:00 AM - Noon and 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Wednesday & Thursday: 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Tuesday and Friday: No Drop-Ins

OIP will be open on Fridays for drop-off or pick-up of
paperwork requests at the Reception Desk).


There are 2 ways to schedule an appointment:

  1. By phone: call OIP front desk at 415.338.1293
  2. In person: speak to OIP front desk staff

 

Important: Please note we can not accept appointments via e-mail. Also International Student Advisors at OIP can not advise students on academic issues such as course selection, transfer credits (ASE/DARS), and graduate requirement. Contact your major department or the Advising Center for assistance.



Appointment Issues

Please make an appointment when you are ready (have all required documents) to apply for:

  • Change of Status
  • Economic Hardship
  • Reinstatement
  • Other special issues: Students who live far from the SF State campus may also schedule an appointment

 

 

Drop-in Issues

Drop in to see an International Student Advisor when:
  • You have any general questions
  • You are ready to submit the following forms:

    Future Plans Form
    Leave of Absence
    I-20 Extension
    Reduced Course Load (RCL) due to Medical Condition
    Transfer Out Form


You may submit the following request to front desk directly:

  • Concurrent Enrollment Letter (For Taking class in Another School)
  • CPT application
  • Enrollment Verification Letter
  • Graduation Ceremony Invitation Letter
  • OIP Referral Form (For On-Campus Employment)
  • OPT application
  • Planning to Enroll Letter
  • PCPT Verification Letter
  • Proof of Expenses Letter
  • International Student Installment Agreement Form
  • Reduced Course Load (RCL) due to Completion, Thesis/Project/Recital/Oral Defense/Exam, and Academic Difficulty
  • Social Security Number Support Letter
