SAN FRANCISCO--Tony Van Nguyen of San Francisco was named hood recipient of the Special and Liberal Studies Majors at San Francisco State University for the Class of 2000. He is pictured next to SFSU President Robert A. Corrigan immediately following the commencement ceremony on May 27. Every year one of the top students of each college at SF State is chosen to receive a special hood on stage to represent the graduating students from that college. Tony's planned major-cultural peace and understanding-p romotes cultural understanding and non-violent conflict resolution. In addition to graduating with a 3.8 GPA, Tony was recently awarded a full scholarship and stipend to pursue a graduate program at George Mason University's Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution.
