San Francisco, CA, May 12, 2000---Dr. Ray Maghroori, dean of the College of Business at San Francisco State University, has been named to the Board of Directors of the ATHENA Foundation, according to Carolyn Madden, Executive Director of the international non-profit organization headquartered in East Lansing, Michigan.
Dr. Maghroori also serves as the California State Director of the ATHENA Foundation. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, Riverside and his M.A. and B.A. from San Jose State University. Before arriving at San Francisco State in July 1998, he was an administrator at the A. Gary Anderson School of Management at Riverside for twelve years.
The ATHENA Foundation, established in 1982, is dedicated to creating leadership opportunities for women. The ATHENA Award program encourages communities to identify and honor women, men, and organizations worldwide who assist women in reaching their full potential. The ATHENA PowerLink program helps women-owned businesses grow profitably with the assistance of professional advisory panels tailored to the business owner's specific needs. The ATHENA Leadership Model integrates the ATHENA core value s into an innovative model of dynamic leadership. This new model will provide guidance to those seeking to develop leadership skills. In addition, the ATHENA Foundation hosts an annual leadership conference. The 2000 Conference was held in Denver, Colorado and honored former Congresswoman Patricia Scott Schroeder with the International ATHENA Award.
