Chinese American authors who are grads of S.F. State
to discuss their work during discussions on Dec. 17

SAN FRANCISCO, December 3, 1999 ---The Chinese Historical Society of America (CHSA) and the Asian American Studies Department at San Francisco State University will host a panel discussion with Chinese American authors who are graduates of San Francisco State University on Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. in the CHSA offices, 644 Broadway Street, Suite 402 in San Francisco.

The authors are Jeffrey Chan, Frank Chin, Russell Leong and Shawn Wong. Chan, a professor of Asian American Studies at S.F. State, has written numerous short stories. Chin, co-editor of "Aiiieeeee!" and "The Big Aiiieeeee!" won an American Book Award for "Chinaman Pacific." Leong is editor of UCLA's "Amerasia Journal" and also serves as series editor for "Intersections: Asian and Pacific American Transcultural Studies" for the University of Hawaii Press. And Wong, chair of the English Department at the University of Washington, is the author of "Homebase" and "American Knees."

The discussion is the final event in the CHSA/S.F. State lecture series, which celebrated S.F. State's Centennial during 1999. For more information, call Lorraine Dong at (415) 338-7590.
