WHAT: The Open House officially welcomes community residents to Valencia Health Services, an affordable neighborhood health-care clinic targeting low-income residents, jointly staffed and operated by U.C. San Francisco and San Francisco State University. Events include free health screenings, workshops, children's activities, food and more, followed by opening ceremonies at 5:30 p.m.
WHEN: Wednesday, December 8, 1999. Open House: 3 to 7 p.m. Opening Ceremonies: 5:30 p.m.
WHERE: Valencia Health Services, 1647 Valencia Street, San Francisco
WHO: UCSF Vice Chancellor, Dorothy Bainton; SFSU Dean of Health and Human Services, Donald Zingale; SFSU Director of Research and Sponsored Programs, Paul Fonteyn; UCSF Dean of the School of Nursing, Zina Mirsky; Chair, UCSF Dept. of Family Health Care and Nursing, Brenda Roberts; Concha Sausedo, Executive Director Instituto (Community Leader for Blessing)
WHY: The clinic was established to provide comprehensive, affordable health care to all members of a family, within their own community. The new clinic employs nurse practitioners, physicians and graduate students from UCSF and SFSU, who provide cost-effective and culturally sensitive health care to a diverse population.
