Public invited to review, comment on materials for state Board of Education adoption WHAT AND WHO: History and social science instructional materials for grades K-8 being considered for adoption by the California state Board of Education are available for public review through Oct. 30 at San Francisco State University. Parents, educators and the general public are invited to review textbooks and supplementary materials such as videos, CDs and workbooks and submit comments. Comment forms are available at the center and will be sent to the state Board of Education. This is the only review center in the city and county of San Francisco. WHY: Materials adopted by the state Board of Education will be used for the next six years. This is the public's chance to weigh in on how history and social science are taught in public school classrooms in California. WHEN: Summer hours are 1 - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Beginning Aug. 29, hours are 1 - 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 1 - 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 1 - 5 p.m. Friday.
