Francisco -- Dance enthusiasts and world music buffs should
mark their calendars for Saturday, November 22, when SFSU
presents its annual World Cultures Dance and Music Concert
at 7:30 p.m. in McKenna Theatre in the Creative Arts Building
on the SFSU campus. Featuring some of Northern California’s
finest student dancers and musicians, this high-energy
multicultural pageant presents a stimulating array of dance
styles, including Kathak, Capoiera, Haitian, South African,
Tahitian, Irish, Afro-Cuban and more, with most set to
live music. The show is directed by dance professor Susan
Whipp with assistance by the Student Dance Alliance.
Admission and parking
Admission to the concert is $10 for the general public and
$8 for students and seniors. Public parking is available
in Lot 20 on the SFSU Campus, which can be accessed from
Lake Merced Boulevard between Winston Drive and Font Boulevard.
Parking is $1 per hour with a $5 daily maximum. Nearby on-street
parking is readily available on weekends. For more information,

The SFSU School of Music and Dance
For more than 40 years, SFSU’s dance program has presented
ethnic dance concerts representing diverse cultures. Successful
graduates include Blanche Brown, whose Afro-Haitian company,
Petite La Croix, is one of many established dance organizations
with roots in the department’s Ethnic Dance Program;
Kendra Kimbrough, director of the Kendra Kimbrough Dance Ensemble,
and Carlos Aceituno, director of the award-winning Carnaval
Group Fogo Na Roupa. Dance is a program of the School of Music
and Dance at the College of Creative Arts, San Francisco State
