Spring application deadline may be as early as Sept. 15; SFSU maintains its academic program SAN FRANCISCO, August 1, 2003 -- San Francisco State University will not accept spring 2004 applications from transfer students who have less than 56 units of college credit, due to cuts in the California budget, University officials announced today. “It is unfortunate that the constraints of the state budget have put San Francisco State in this difficult situation,” said Jo Volkert, associate vice president for enrollment planning and management. “The University is working to accommodate as many students as the budget allows while maintaining the academic program.” SFSU is committed to maintaining its academic program and is offering 3,708 course sections this fall -- 17 more than in fall 2002. SFSU began accepting spring 2004 applications today, Aug. 1. Volkert strongly advises prospective students to submit applications as early as possible. The spring 2004 application deadline for first-time freshmen, and transfer students with 56 or more units, may come as early as Sept. 15. An announcement of the exact closing date will be made later in August. Volkert encourages prospective students who are unable to apply for spring 2004 to apply for fall 2004. SFSU will begin accepting fall 2004 applications Oct. 1. Prospective students may apply online, at www.csumentor.edu, to receive an admissions decision more quickly. The deadline for submitting spring 2004 graduate applications remains Nov. 15, as in past semesters. However, certain graduate programs have earlier deadlines and require an additional application.
