Both candidates for Public Defender, Burton and Adachi, scheduled to attend

WHAT: Candidates from four offices in the upcoming March 5 primary election will speak Monday, Feb. 18 at San Francisco State University, providing a forum for students, faculty and staff to learn more about each person seeking office.

One of the most closely watched local races is between incumbent Public Defender Kimiko Burton, daughter of State Sen. John Burton, and Jeffrey Adachi, former Deputy Public Defender. Both are scheduled to attend.

Also invited are candidates for the 12th and 13th State Assembly Districts and the city’s office of Assessor-Recorder.

In addition, the City Elections Bureau will hold a voter registration drive in Malcolm X Plaza. The deadline to register for the March 5 election is Feb. 19.

WHO: Candidates for the following offices have been invited:

  • 12th Assembly District: Michael Denny, Howard Epstein, Dan Kelly and Leland Yee.
  • 13th Assembly District: Harry Britt, Joshua Kriesel, Mark Leno, Christopher A. Maden, Gail Neira, Steve Phillips and Holli P. Thier
  • Assessor-Recorder: Ronald Chun, John Farrell, Richard Hongisto, Jim Rodriguez, Mabel Teng and Doris Ward
  • Public Defender: Jeffrey Adachi and Kimiko Burton

    WHEN: Noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18, 2002

    WHERE: Malcolm X Plaza, located at the east entrance of the Cesar Chavez Student Center, San Francisco State University, 1650 Holloway Ave., San Francisco.
