Professor of Cinema Bill Nichols wrote the recently published book, "Engaging Cinema: An Introduction to Film Studies," (W.W. Norton, 2010).

Creative Writing
Associate Professor of Creative Writing Peter Orner’s short story, "Dyke Bridge," appeared in volume 11 of the literary journal, Granta, which also included work by Iris Murdoch, Seamus Heaney, Adrienne Rich and Mark Twain.

Decision Sciences
Associate Professor of Decision Sciences Ramesh Bollapragada presented, "Surge in Usage of FasTrack on San Francisco Bay Area Bridges: Impact of O.R. Models in Relieving Traffic Congestion, and Improving Productivity in the Region," at Stanford University and Google's Forecasting Group in April and May. 

English
Assistant Professor of English Gitanjali Shahani delivered the lecture, "The Bard in Bollywood: Shakespeare Re-invented," at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences South Asian Independent Film Festival in San Francisco.

Health Education
Associate Professor of Health Education Vivian Chavez taught a course on Cultural Humility at the University of Colorado, through a grant from the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration.  Chavez also co-edited the book "Youth Radio," published by the University of California Press last spring.

History
History Lecturer Sherry Katz co-edited "Contesting Archives: Finding Women in the Sources" (University of Illinois Press, 2010).

Professor of History Paul Longmore has earned a research fellowship from the U.S. Department of Education’s National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research to write a book documenting the history of the disability rights movement in the U.S.

Pasker Chair in American History Chris Waldrep published two books in July: "Jury Discrimination: The Supreme Court, Public Opinion, and a Grassroots Fight for Racial Equality in Mississippi" (University of Georgia Press, 2010) and "Race and National Power: A Sourcebook of Black Civil Rights from 1862 to 1954" (Taylor and Francis, 2010).

Marketing
Assistant Professor of Marketing Minu Kumar co-wrote the article, "Exploring the Appeal of Product Design: A Grounded, Value-based Model of Key Design Elements and Relationships," that was recently published in Journal of Product Innovation Management.

Raza Studies
Assistant Professor of Raza Studies Jeffrey M.R. Duncan-Andrade's newest book, "What a Coach Can Teach a Teacher: Lessons Urban Schools Can Learn From a Successful Sports Program," was published by Peter Lang Publishing.

Recreation, Parks and Tourism Management
Professor of Recreation, Parks and Tourism James F. Murphy co-authored the new book, "Introduction to Careers in Recreation, Parks, Sports Management, Hospitality, and Tourism," published by Sagamore Publishing Co.

Sexuality Studies
Professor of Sexuality Studies Colleen Hoff published the paper, "Relationship characteristics and motivations behind agreements among gay male couples: Differences by agreement type and couple serostatus," in the July 2010 issue of AIDS Care.

Social Work
Assistant Professor of Social Work Rashmi Gupta co-authored "Child Spacing and Contraception Among the Poor in Zambia" in the March issue of Journal of Contraception.
