The GLBT Interest Group of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication selected Professor of Communication Studies Gust A. Yep to receive the LeRoy F. Aarons Award for significant contributions to LGBTQ media education and research. One contribution that was specifically cited was his intersectional and multidimensional approach to sexuality by including culture, race, ethnicity, class, gender, the body and the nation in his analysis. The award will be presented at the organization's annual conference to be held in San Francisco in early August 2015.

Also, Barros' work was referenced in a July 8 ScienceNews article on how quantum mathematics can make sense out of human irrationality.
