Asian American Studies
Assistant Professor of Asian American Studies Jonathan H. X. Lee co-authored the paper "Buddhist Approach to Healing and Wellness: A Vietnamese American Case Study for United Nations Millennium Development Goals,” which was presented at the Buddhist Perspective Towards Achieving the UN Millennium Development Goals conference held May 7-11 in Ninh Binh Province, Vietnam. The paper will be published in English and translated into Vietnamese

Recreation, Parks and Tourism
The Recreation, Parks and Tourism Department co-hosted the National Outdoor Recreation Conference, themed "Thriving in a New Economic Reality," May 13-16 in San Francisco.

At the conference, Professor and Chair of Recreation, Parks and Tourism Pat Tierney co-presented "Economic Impact and Partnerships of Ski Resorts in California" on May 16.

Associate Professor of Recreation, Parks and Tourism Nina Roberts and Tierney were part of the panel for a National Outdoor Recreation Outdoor Forum on May 16. President Les Wong greeted the participants and gave the opening remarks for the forum.

Emeritus Professor of Recreation, Parks and Tourism Carol Severin received the Distinguished Service Award.

Division of Information Technology
Associate Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Technology Officer Phoebe Kwan was named a finalist in the 2014 Community Champion CIO category of the annual Best Bay Area CIO Awards presented by the Silicon Valley Business Journal and the San Francisco Business Times. The awards will be presented at the June 19 awards celebration in San Jose.
