Biology
Biology Lecturer Brinda Govindan received the 2010 Faculty Enhancement Program Travel Award from the American Society for Microbiology (ASM). The award includes a one-year membership to the society and funding to attend the ASM Conference for Undergraduate Educators on May 20-23.

College of Education  
The San Mateo County School Boards Association awarded the J. Russell Kent Exemplary Program Award to the Center for Teaching Efficacy in the College of Education. The California School Boards Association presented the Golden Bell Award to the center. In addition, the center will be featured as a "Class Act" in an upcoming publication of the California Schools Magazine.

Counseling
Associate Professor of Counseling Rebecca Toporek was invited by NASA to participate in the Pre-Launch Education Forum and the launch of the Space Shuttle Atlantis on May 14 in Cape Canaveral, Fla. The Forum brought together educators from across the country to discuss new ways in which careers in science can be encouraged by educational counselors.

Health Education
Professor of Health Education Erik Peper co-authored "Garbage In; Garbage Out--Identify Blood Volume Pulse (BVP) Artifacts Before Analyzing and Interpreting BVP, Blood Volume Pulse Amplitude, and Heart Rate/Respiratory Sinus Arrhythmia Data," an article featured in Biofeedback.

Professional and Technical Writing
Professor of Professional and Technical Writing Lu Rehling authored the article "Foregrounding Positive Problem-Solving Teamwork: Awareness and Assessment Exercises for the First Class and Beyond," which was published in the Journal of Business and Technical Communication.
