Amy Sueyoshi, associate professor of ethnic studies, delivered the keynote address "Miss Morning Glory is not Transgender: Life Lessons on Being an Asian Queer in America from Yone Noguchi" at the Asian American Sexualities Conference in Chicago on March 7.

Erik Peper
, director of the Institute for Holistic Healing Studies, and translator Hiromi Mutsuura published a revised Japanese version of "Make Health Happen."

Senior Assistant Librarian Kendra Van Cleave published "Fashioning the College Woman: Dress, Gender and Sexuality at Smith College in the 1920s" in the March 2009 issue of the Journal of American Culture.

Marian Wright Edelman Institute
Gary Selnow, founder of the nonprofit organization WiRED, received a Public Health Hero Award from the University of California School of Public Health on March 18. In 1997, Selnow founded WiRED, which brings medical education and information to medical professionals in developing or war torn countries.
