Assistant Professor of Journalism and Director of the Center for Integration and Improvement of Journalism (CIIJ) Cristina Azocar, Professor of Journalism Jon Funabiki and colleagues have published "The Health of Ethnic Media: Needs and Opportunities, Mission Driven News from the Ground Up." The report, funded by The McCormick Foundation, provides an assessment of the sector's purpose, priorities and health and identifies threats to its success from the point of view of their owners, publishers, editors and reporters.

Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts
Assistant Professor of Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts Jeff Jacoby has been elected to serve as president of the board of directors at The National Radio Project in Oakland. The National Radio Project produces the 30-minute radio program "Making Contact," which is distributed to more than 200 radio stations worldwide. 

The 11th edition of "Television and Radio Announcing," by Stuart Hyde, professor emeritus of Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts, was recently published by Allyn and Bacon.

Elementary Education
Associate Professor of Elementary Education Isabel Quita directed "Mysteries of the Heavens," a science exhibition and fair, in Andhra Pradesh, India, on Jan. 2, 3 and 5.
