BECA Lecturer and Assistant General Counsel at Verizon Jill Bronfman was named to The Recorder's 2014 list of the 50 Women Leaders in Tech Law. Honorees were chosen based on their recent accomplishments and their demonstrated ability to lead, whether in litigation or deal making -- attributes that help lead the way for other women seeking roles in the legal sector.
Communication Studies
The National Communication Association (NCA) has selected Associate Professor of Communication Studies Samuel McCormick to be the 2014 recipient of the NCA Franklyn S. Haiman Award for Distinguished Scholarship in Freedom of Expression. The annual award is given to a member who has authored outstanding published research on freedom of expression over the prior three years. McCormick was recognized for his book Letters to Power. The award will be presented at the NCA's 100th Annual Convention Nov. 21-23 in Chicago.

Professor of Environmental Studies Carlos Davidson co-authored "Pesticide Regulation amid the Influence of Industry," which was published Sept. 3 in Bioscience.
Recreation, Parks & Tourism
On Friday, Sept. 5, Professor of Recreation, Parks & Tourism Nina Roberts moderated a panel on wilderness and cultural diversity for a regional celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act.
