In Memoriam

David Meredith
Professor Emeritus of Mathematics David Meredith passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 11. Having served as a member of SF State's faculty for forty years, David entered retirement after the spring 2012 semester. Those who worked with him remember Meredith as a devoted educator who cared deeply for students and colleagues.

Meredith was instrumental in building the graduate program in Math. He served as the department's graduate advisor and later as department chair. Meredith was also active in the Academic Senate serving as Chair of the Academic Policies Committee from 2003-2005 prior to being elected as Academic Senate chair for the 2006-2007 academic year.

"David was an excellent Chair of our Mathematics Department from 2002 until 2006, hiring several outstanding faculty including the first two biomathematicians at SF State," Dean of the College of Science and Engineering and Professor of Mathematics Sheldon Axler said. "We will greatly miss David; we are thankful for all that he did to make SF State a better place."

A memorial service will be held Jan. 20, 2013 from 1 to 4 p.m. View the e-Vite.
