Biology
Professor of Biology Tom Parker co-authored a paper titled "Evaluating tidal marsh sustainability in the face of sea level rise: a hybrid modeling approach applied to San Francisco Bay," published Nov. 16 in the online journal PLoS One.

Consumer and Family Studies/Dietetics
Associate Professor of Apparel Design and Merchandising Connie Ulasewicz presented "Influence of World War II on Women's Fashions in San Francisco" at the International Textile and Apparel Association National Conference in Philadelphia on Nov. 5.

Also, Ulasewicz wrote the chapter "Sustainable Design Practices for the Social Entrepreneurial Business," which was published in Social Responsibility and Sustainability, the concluding volume of a five-volume monograph series about service learning. President Robert A. Corrigan wrote the foreword to the volume.

Creative Writing
Associate Professor of Creative Writing Peter Orner's second novel, Love and Shame and Love, received positive reviews in The New York Times and the Chicago Tribune.

Creative Writing Lecturer Alice LaPlante has received the Wellcome Trust Book Prize for her first novel Turn of Mind, which also received a favorable review in The New York Times Book Review, earlier this year.

Ethnic Studies
Associate Professor of Ethnic Studies Rabab Abdulhadi is a co-editor of Arab and Arab American Feminisms, published by Syracuse University Press.
