A milestone in Cupertino
In a Dec. 2 San Jose Mercury News article, Professor of Asian American Studies Grace Yoo commented on the recent city council elections in Cupertino. The city is now one of three cities in the country where a majority of its city council members are Asian American. Yoo called the news a major milestone for Cupertino.  "This is, indeed, unusual, but I believe that Asian-Americans have started to get more involved in the political process," she said. "This last presidential election galvanized a lot of first time voters in the Asian American community."

Buying online
Professor of Marketing Bill Perttula commented on, "Cyber Monday," the day of online deals following Black Friday, in a Nov. 29 Myrtle Beach Sun News article. Perttula said that more stores are offering deals online in an effort to attract and hook new customers and build customer loyalty. "Every year it should work better and better because of the increasing connectivity of the American consumer with broadband, plus the trust you've built up each time (a customer) goes online," he said.
