Chamber
concert
The SFSU Chamber Ensembles present a free concert
at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, in Knuth Hall. Chamber
musicians will perform works by Bach, Brahms and

Wednesday
Festival of short plays
Theatre Arts will present "Playthings," a
festival of short plays running from Wednesday, Dec.
10 through Saturday, Dec. 13, in the Creative Arts Building,
rooms 21 and 23. The play-development showcase, directed
by Theatre Arts Professor Bill Peters, features more
than a dozen plays by theatre arts and creative writing
students. Admission is free and performances are at 6
p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Night at the symphony
The SFSU Symphony, conducted by Music Assistant Professor
Gregory Magie, will present an evening of romantic masterworks
at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11 in Knuth Hall. The symphony
will present Wagner's "Prelude to Die Meistersinger" and
Sibelius' "Symphony No. 5."Tickets are $3 for
students, faculty, staff and seniors, and $5 for others.

The SFSU Flute Choir will perform a free concert at

Free
flu vaccine from Student Health Service
All faculty, staff and students 50 years of age and younger
are eligible to receive the flu mist (nasal spray) from 8:30
a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9 and Tuesday, Dec. 16. The vaccine
is free thanks to the Student Health Service.
Those
ineligible for the flu mist can still receive a flu shot
for $25 on the same days.
Interested
faculty, staff and students should check the Student Health
Service Web site -- http://www.sfsu.edu/~shs/ --
and print out a consent form.
Join
the fight against hunger this holiday season
The Community Involvement Center (CIC) invites the campus community
to join its holiday food drive to benefit the Salvation Army
in its work to feed the hungry in the Bay Area.
Canned
goods and non-perishable food items can be dropped off at
the CIC office, which is located in the gym courtyard. The
CIC is housed in a brown trailer with the banner "Community
Involvement Center" in front.
The
deadline for donations is Wednesday, Dec. 10. For details,
call the CIC at ext. 8-1486.
Be
safe with fireproofed office greenery
'Tis the season and Facilities Services is providing fireproofed
greens from the campus grounds for offices. Trees and garlands
that need fireproofing may be brought to the Paint Shop in the
Corporation Yard before 9 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays through
Dec. 15 and picked up after 7 a.m. two days later after drying.
A
holiday fire safety reminder from Facilities Services: All
fresh greens and trees used in campus offices need to be
fireproofed. For more information, call ext 8-1845.
Students
help bridge the 'Digital Divide'
Students in Design and Industry's "Digital Media 3: Web
7Design" course invite the campus community to celebrate
the launching of student-designed, small business/community-based
Web sites from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10 in FA 123.
Design
teams will explain the Web design process and unveil many
new Web sites.

by Jo Tomalin on "Physicality
and Performance," several poems by Toni Mirosevich, and
a presentation by Lu Rehling on bringing awareness of varying
