Academic Unit Reorganization Proposal

March 21, 2011 -- President Corrigan and Provost Rosser seek the advice of the University community on a new proposal for University reorganization.

This new six-college proposal builds on the results of the referendum on University reorganization conducted several weeks ago. It reflects new ideas generated in meetings held with members of the campus community, an extensive review of feedback to reorganization proposals, and a need to further streamline administrative expenses.

The President and Provost believe it more fully confronts the University's budget realities, with potential to produce greater cost savings than the alternative most favored in the February faculty referendum.

All savings in this new proposal are achieved through cuts in administration. This new plan is consistent with the recommendation of the University Planning Advisory Council (UPAC) to organize in a six-college structure. UPAC has endorsed the proposal and recommended advancing it to the University community for feedback.

All members of the university community are asked to review the proposal, and if desired, submit a comment below. Insights from these comments will be considered and may be incorporated into a final draft that will be considered in a faculty referendum in early April.
