Feedback Sought on Revised Proposal for College Reorganization

Note: The following e-mail was sent on 4/11/11 to all faculty and staff.

Dear colleague,

After much consultation with the university community, Provost Rosser and I have developed a revised model for university reorganization. This new six-college proposal builds on the results of the referendum on University reorganization conducted several weeks ago. It reflects new ideas generated in meetings held with members of the campus community and an extensive review of feedback on reorganization proposals, as well as a growing need to further streamline administrative expenses.

I am now seeking to elicit the opinion of the university community on this new college reorganization plan. Toward that end, and in accordance with Academic Senate policy, I asked the Senate to conduct a second advisory faculty referendum. Voting on the referendum began on Wednesday, April 6. As is the case with such referenda, voting is limited to members of faculty.

However, in addition to the ballot, we have set up a feedback page to allow all faculty and staff to share their comments on the proposal. To view the proposal and provide feedback, please visit http://www.sfsu.edu/~news/announce/sixcolleges.htm. While faculty ballots must be submitted by Wednesday, April 13, this page will accept feedback through Friday, April 15. Your perspective is important to us, and I hope you will take the time and opportunity to share your comments.
