Gators reconnect at Alumni Day
Oct. 5, 2010 -- More than 130 alums returned to campus Oct. 2 for the second annual Alumni Day, which featured an Oscar-winning lineup. Keynote speakers included visual effects artist Victoria Livingstone (B.A. '97), sound engineer Chris Boyes (B.A. '85) and documentarian Steven Okazaki (B.A. '76), who hold a total of six Academy Awards among them.
"The event was a reminder of the amazing scope and breadth of work that SF State alums are involved in, including such movies as the Star Wars trilogy and King Kong, as well as Steve Okazaki's work as a documentary filmmaker," said Doug Hupke, director of alumni relations.
Alumni also had the opportunity to attend presentations on faculty research, hear analysis of the upcoming election provided by political science professors, and learn more about the groundbreaking work of alum Esteban Burchard, M.D., on the role of race, ethnicity and genetics in treating pulmonary disease.
