State students have been awarded 14 Gilman scholarships to study abroad
in spring 2010, enabling them to spend a semester in such countries as
Chile, South Africa and Hong Kong. The number of scholarships granted
represents a historic high for for the spring semester for SF State,
continuing the University's tradition of sending diverse students overseas
to study.
Together with the 34 students awarded Gilman scholarships in fall 2009, SF State has received 48 Gilman scholarships for the 2009-10 academic year. Based on need and merit, Gilman International Scholarships support students of limited financial means and those from diverse ethnic backgrounds by defraying the cost of studying abroad.
