The distinctly "San Francisco State of Mind" is illustrated in a series of vivid advertisements launched in the Chronicle of Higher Education on Sept. 26, 2008. Scheduled to run through early 2009, the ads highlight programs and accomplishments that embody the commitment to equity and social justice that defines the "San Francisco State of Mind."

Giant Steps:  At the Village Dancers Children's Dance Co., a free program based at San Francisco State University, kids from underserved neighborhoods learn more than dance. They learn to work hard, respect themselves and each other, and communicate.

Wired World:  Based at San Francisco State University, World Internet Resources for Education and Development (WiRED) brings computers and training to places ravaged by disease or conflict.  The goal is to give people access to information that instills hope, solves problems and, in some cases, saves lives.

Global Mobility: Whirlwind Wheelchair International, a project founded and based at San Francisco State University, is the hub of a global network that designs wheelchairs for production and use in developing countries. The chairs are designed for independent mobility in rough urban and rural environments.
