SF State announces local admission guarantee area for freshmen

December 5, 2008 -- High school seniors wishing to apply to San Francisco State for fall 2009 are reminded to apply by the Dec. 10 deadline. Under new impaction standards issued by the California State University system last month, SF State announces its local admission guarantee area to include students from nine Bay Area counties: San Francisco, San Mateo, Marin, Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, Solano, Napa and Sonoma counties. Graduating high school seniors from these counties should continue to apply as normal and will be admitted under the standard CSU high school admissions requirements.

High school seniors from beyond these nine counties are also encouraged to apply. Out-of-area applicants will be admitted based on a higher standard that combines high school GPA and SAT or ACT scores.

Transfer students applying to SF State will not be affected by the campus' impaction plan. Transfer students will be admitted based on normal CSU admission requirements. The deadline for transfer students is March 2, 2009.
