A Closer Look -- City honors campus police

November 26, 2007

Mayoral Liaison presents Mayor's proclamation to SF State Police chief

The San Francisco State University Police Department received a proclamation from Mayor Gavin Newsom and the City of San Francisco in recognition of excellent service. Declaring November 14, 2007, "San Francisco State University Police Department Day," Newsom recognized the department as one of only five university police agencies in the United States to achieve accreditation from both the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) and the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). Summer Graham (left), the mayor's liaison to Districts 1, 2 and 7, presented the proclamation to University Police Chief Kirk Gaston (right) at a department gathering that included University officials (Capt. Patrick Wasley pictured, far left). In sharing the proclamation with his officers and staff, Chief Gaston remarked, "Each and every one of you made this happen."
