A Closer Look -- Experience teaches

November 14, 2007

Overall photo of the Taste of the Bay fundraiser and shots of some of the dishes

Enterprising students in the hospitality management program put on the 11th annual Taste of the Bay fundraiser Nov. 6 at the St. Francis Yacht Club. Planned, organized and run entirely by students, the event drew 450 attendees who enjoyed an array of gourmet fare from more than 30 Bay Area restaurants and wineries. The event raised a record $75,000 -- more than double the amount raised last year, according to Professor and Chair of Hospitality Management Janet Sim. Profits from the event will go toward scholarships and other program needs.

The bachelor's degree in hospitality management prepares students for leadership positions in food service and hotel/resort management, and is the largest four-year program of its kind in the Bay Area.
