A Closer Look: Egyptian artifacts exhibit

Photo of a model wooden boat from ancient Egypt

A wooden boat is just one of many pieces featured in the exhibit "Tales and Treasures from the Tomb: Selected Artifacts from the Sutro Egyptian Collection" on display through May 6 in room 510 of the Humanties building. Designed by museum studies students, the exhibit features 5,000-year-old ancient Egyptian artifacts, including the beautifully painted triple nesting mummy of NES-PER-N-NUB. Exhibit hours are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Admission is free. Group tours are also available. For reservations, call Marian Bernstein at (415) 338-1500.

Pieces from the collection can also be viewed at the Sutro Egyptian Collection Web site.
