A Closer Listen: Student poem nets Comcast gifts

Photo of SFSU student Khompiew Jim Ounniyom

When English 214 instructor Jennifer Arin gave her students an assignment to write a poem last semester, junior Khompiew Jim Ounniyom decided to write about his new Comcast Cable Internet connection. He didn't know that Arin would send the completed poem to Comcast headquarters. Comcast liked the poem so much that the company gave Ounniyom a DVD player and several months of free Internet access, and scheduled an audition for a possible Comcast commercial. The company also donated a digital video recorder to SFSU's English Department. Listen to Ounniyom recite his poem.
