A Closer Look: Time running short to apply to SFSU

Photo of Admissions Specialist Jason Chapin explaining admissions requirements and process to future SFSU theatre arts major Paul Rodrigues

At the University’s One Stop Student Services Center, future SFSU theatre arts major Paul Rodrigues (right), 22, gets advice from Admissions Specialist Jason Chapin on requirements and applications for transferring to SFSU.

Chapin and his colleagues in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions have been busier than usual of late, as the University has received more than 25,400 applications for fall 2004 -- a 26 percent increase from this time last year. The University has already received more first-time freshmen applications than it received for all of fall 2003.

Because of the increased number of applicants and the uncertainty of SFSU's budget relating to California’s fiscal crisis, undergraduate applications for prospective first-time freshmen must be submitted by midnight on Friday, Jan. 16. Prospective transfer students have until Monday, Feb. 16 to turn in applications.

For more about applying to SFSU, see the application deadline Web story or visit the prospective student Web site.

Students are encouraged to apply online at CSU Mentor.
