Priority application period open through Nov. 30

October 6, 2004

Photo of a student studying in the J. Paul Leonard LibraryStudents intending to enroll at SFSU in fall 2005 are strongly advised to submit their applications for admission no later than Nov. 30.

Academically qualified students who apply for undergraduate admission by Nov. 30 increase their chances of being admitted to SFSU. After that, students run the risk of being turned away.

Students who intend to transfer to SFSU from another college or university for fall 2005 must have at least 60 units of transferable college credit.

A deadline for general fall 2005 applications will likely be established after Nov. 30. However, programs in nursing, cinema, apparel design and manufacturing, interior design, and radio and television will only accept undergraduate applications through Nov. 30.

"Because the number of applications continues to grow at SFSU and other CSU campuses, we want to retain the flexibility to cut off applications when we have admitted as many students as our campus can handle," said Jo Volkert, associate vice president for enrollment planning and management. "We strongly advise students to submit their completed applications by Nov. 30 online to receive a decision more quickly and increase their chances of admission."

SFSU's enrollment this fall is 28,806.

Deadlines for submitting graduate applications remain nearly the same as in past years. The application deadline for spring 2005 graduate admission is Nov. 1, and for fall 2005 admission, May 1, 2005. Certain graduate programs have earlier deadlines and require an additional application. For details, visit the Division of Graduate Studies Web site or call (415) 338-2234.

For more details on SFSU admissions, majors and degree programs, costs, financial aid, on-campus housing and student life, visit the Prospective Student Web site, call (415) 338-2355 or send an e-mail to: outreach@sfsu.edu.

Prospective students interested in on-campus housing are encouraged to submit a housing application before being admitted to SFSU, as space is limited and applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. For details, call (415) 338-1067 or visit the Housing and Residential Services Web site.
