"Now
and Then, Here and There," a 2003 work by Adriane Colburn
featuring gouache (a heavy, opaque watercolor) and ink on paper, exemplifies
the Fine Arts Gallery exhibition "2 - 1/2." Curated by Paul
Mullins, assistant professor of art, the exhibit focuses on works that
have more texture and depth than most paintings but aren't quite 3-D.
Using things like erasers, molding and resin, the artists create works
that reach out from the wall into the gallery space. The exhibit runs
through Oct. 14 in the Fine Arts Gallery of the Fine Arts building.
Hours are from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from noon
to 6 p.m. Wednesdays. Admission is free. An artists' reception and
lecture will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, in the
Fine Arts
Gallery.
