In a Dec. 30 column printed in the San Francisco Examiner, President Robert. A Corrigan wrote about Students Helping in the Naturalization of Elders and Students Assisting with Immigrant Literacies, two SFSU programs that help older immigrants prepare for the U.S. citizenship exam and improve their English literacy skills. Student coaches from SFSU and City College travel to senior centers in Chinatown, the Mission and the Richmond and tutor participants in small groups. The seniors benefit, but so do the students as they learn to relate to and value the experiences of an older generation.
