Film consultant discusses Hollywood's depiction of Arabs

Jack G. Shaheen, an author and film consultant, will discuss "Hollywood's Dirty Little Secret: The Arab Boogey-man" at noon Thursday, Sept. 26, in Jack Adams Hall of the Cesar Chavez Student Center.

Shaheen, the grandson of Lebanese immigrants, is the author of "Reel Bad Arabs: How Hollywood Vilifies a People" and has served as a consultant on many films to promote positive portrayals of Arabs in Hollywood films.

The lecture is part of SFSU's Year of Constructive Civil Discourse and is sponsored by Associated Students Performing Arts and Lectures and SFSU's Office of Human Relations.
