Earth Day will be celebrated on campus from noon to 4 p.m. Monday, April 22, in Malcolm X Plaza (next to the Student Center). Campus groups and local organizations will distribute information on conservation, recycling, local restoration projects and corporate accountability. The Sierra Club, Global Exchange and the San Francisco League of Urban Gardeners are expected to participate.

There will be demonstrations of solar panels, worm composting and effectively using bicycles for transportation. There will also be live music and a raffle.

Earth Day participants may also learn about "green" computers. These computers operate on solar energy, use ecologically sound ink cartridges, are made of remanufactured components or have radiation-free monitors.

The event is sponsored by Forces of Nature, a group of environmental studies students, Students for a Better Environment, the Holistic Health Department and the Associated Students Women's Center.
