Sandra Cisneros will read from her novel-in-progress "Caramelo" at 1 p.m. Monday in Jack Adams Hall of the Cesar Chavez Student Center. She will also participate in a book signing. The event is free.

Cisneros, a writer of fiction and poetry, is best known for her short story collection "A House on Mango Street." Her work often portrays the experience of Latinas living in America.
