The University celebrated its 103rd birthday today, Founders' Day. The celebration marks the day in 1899 when the State Legislature voted to provide funds for the San Francisco State Normal School, the precursor to SFSU.

Students dressed in late 19th century costumes (above right) invited students, faculty, staff and campus vistors to the event. President Robert A. Corrigan announced the winner of the staff STAR of the Year award (below left). And a 3,000-piece cake was served by campus administrators and deans (below right).

SFSU has celebrated Founders' Day since its 1999 Centennial year.
